“My three year old loves this GALT Snakes and Ladders Ludo Game, we must play four times a day. Playing the board game is also really helping him get a concept of numbers.”

Initial Thoughts:
A sweet board for a classic board game. The board is intricate with plenty to look at beyond the standard snakes and ladders on a numbered board. Snakes & Ladders is an ideal game to start toddlers on. It also helps get them used to using dice and helps with numbers, counting, addition and winning/losing.

We Liked:
I wasn’t sure whether my 3 year old was old enough to go for a board game. It took him a couple of times to get used to the idea of moving the counter a certain number of steps but once he got the hang of it, he LOVED it. Now, we must play at least four sessions of snakes and ladders every day.

Playing the board game is also really helping him get a concept of numbers. I can see him working out how addition will work as he plays as well as developing his recognition of numbers on the board. Ludo (on the reverse side of the board) is a bit beyond him at the moment, but I can see that he will get into it in the future and will develop his idea of having a strategy to win a game.

The board is beautifully decorated, a jungle theme with plenty to look at as you go up the ladders and tumble down the snakes.

We weren’t keen on: It’s a board game, what’s not to like? Admittedly Snakes & Ladders 4 times a day can get boring for an adult, but Adam loves it. With kids as young as 3 it does require an adult’s full supervision to have a meaningful game. The small counters and dice are obviously easily lost, but that’s life really.

Overall:
A classic board game, with all sorts of educational benefits. Well made, well presented and at a very reasonable price.
