Initial thoughts: The only way I can describe the VTech Push and Sing Tricycle is that it is a big lump of multi coloured plastic. That sings.

What we liked:
It’s chunky and quite happy looking, and did get the attention of Edward. The toy has an on/off switch, which to me is a must with all toys, and is easy enough for little hands that lack co-ordination to use. It sings and makes bell noises as the child pushes it along the floor, and the big wheels make this easy to manage.

We weren’t keen: I obviously wasn’t the only person who thought the VTech Push and Sing Tricycle looked a bit dull. Edward played with the tricycle for about 5 minutes then got bored and moved onto something else. I don’t think there was enough to keep his attention. Another problem was the toy’s voice – it shouts quite forcefully to be pushed, and I wouldn’t say it was warm and fluffy, but more like a sergeant major in tone!

There is a sticker on the back of the toy as part of the design, but within a week it had become tattered, just from regular handling by a one year old. I also felt the toy seemed precarious –  it’s designed to wiggle as it’s pushed along, but it looks like one tantrum may pull it from its perch.

Overall: The VTech Push and Sing Tricycle is not an expensive toy, but I expected more from a name like VTech, and I think it’s really not something that will be played with for hours on end. Could do better!
