Initial thoughts: This sounds like a great idea: jazzing up the old bursting bubbles in the back garden game. The set comes with a bubble blower, a small pot of bubble mixture and two bubble wands to do the bursting with. And the best bit? The bubbles will PING when they burst!
We liked: The bursting wands are a great idea. They look like little aliens with two antennae on their heads and you have to get a bubble in-between them to get a ping. The first one to get to 20 pings wins (the wands makes a victory sound!)
My two children ran around the freezing cold patio shrieking with delight, waving their wands around and stabbing at the bubbles.
We weren’t so keen: It’s one of those toys which takes at least 15 minutes to get out of the box because it’s been wired in to within an inch of its life. Grrr. Also the bubble blower worked for all of 1 minute and then gave up on us so I ended up blowing the bubbles manually using the little wand in the bubble solution which worked just as well.
Also be warned, it eats batteries: two each in the wands and four in the bubble blower. Plus the bottle of bubble solution is small, so you only really get one session in the garden out of it, then you have to make your own.
Overall: Bubble Buster is a great idea, but if you could just buy the wands it would be preferable (and much cheaper). The children loved the fact that the wands pinged when a bubble was burst and had lots of fun, but Mummy was just thinking how pricey over £10 is for two plastic wands and a bubble blower which died on first use.
Actually, most places I’ve seen this for sale have had it for £16.99 so te Amazon price is a bargain by comparison.
