Build a Bear

I can’t fault the staff at our local Build a Bear store, they were exceptional and made the morning a really fun experience for Flea. She loves her soft toy and so does her cousin. But at £50 apiece, I don’t think she loves it enough to make this value for money. Other experienced parents have told me the way to make Build a Bear Work is to give kids a price limit before you go into the store, and then let them spend it how they choose – so it’s possible to get a bear for £9.99 and an outfit for another £10 or so. And it helps if you buy something at Build a Bear with 2 feet, rather than 4!

Drummond Horrible Practical Jokes“It’s simple: seven-year-old boy + box of practical jokes = match made in Heaven. The Drumond Horrid Practical Jokes box has been a BIG hit.”

Initial thoughts: Seven-year-old boy + box of practical jokes = match made in Heaven. I cannot think of a more perfect ‘toy’ and Dan was chuckling away to himself as he read the back of the box: Whoopee cushion, vomit puddle, dog poo, fake wounds. Oh brother!

We liked: A big box of horrid tricks with 10, count them, 10 different props to fool your hapless victims. There does seem to be a lot for your money here, and as we open up and the trickery spills out it seems like a big hit. The dog poo went down a storm (no, I can’t believe I’m writing this!) with both daddy and grandma TOTALLY fooled!

We weren’t keen on: Some of the tricks are a bit rubbish. The vomit puddle looks like one of my daughter’s art works and the spilt nail varnish isn’t fooling anyone.

Overall: A brilliant idea with some great tricks in, but let down by a couple of items which are a bit rubbish really. My son does keep it stashed away under his bed now though as his secret hoard!
