Lakeland Limited Glow BanglesInitial thoughts: So hands up who never went to an all nighter? Well if you didn’t here’s your chance to grab a bit of old school rave-style and party in your front room and for the rest of us, it’s time to embarrass yourself in front of your kids and throw some shapes like it’s 1992…or whenever it was.

Actually, forget that, you won’t get a chance. As soon as I waved the cylindrical packaging at Miniminx and her friends, I was flattened and mugged and within moments the crazy cats were dancing around the room adorned with their new glow jewellery.

We liked: We loved these – really very simple and an instant hit with everyone – Glowbangles are up there Whoopee Cushions and Slinkies for popularity and simplicity. Arriving in a stripy tube containing 15 dayglo sticks with snap-on attachments to make necklaces, bangles, even belts – Glowbangles do exactly what they say on the packet. There’s something great about snapping the sticks to activate the great colour – it sounds like slush – and like magic they start to glow, and they get really bright when you shake them, so these are definitely best to play with after dark.

We weren’t keen: I would have loved it if they lasted a bit longer and I’m not sure the small plastic pieces for joining the necklace together a very good around young children, so I’d definitely say only give these out under supervision. The packaging says suitable for 6+.

Overall: These are great for the whole year round and adults and kids love them – they’re like an instant party and definitely one for a stocking filler or children’s birthday party bag – you can easily split up the pack. If you take your kids to festivals or camping you should keep a few behind for the Summer too so you don’t end up paying a few quid each for these great little tubes of fun. To be honest, if I’d known they were so cheap (around £4) I would have bought these ages ago, they’re so much fun, all year round.
