TwistasaurusInitial thoughts: The ELC Twistasaurus is a slightly more difficult version of the traditional baby stacking ring toy. Aimed at toddlers, this toy makes noises and is shaped like a dinosaur. Instead of simply putting the rings on the pole, your toddler has to learn how to twist each individual ring on and off, in order to complete the dinosaur.

My only initial reservations are that it is a little bit heavy and club shaped. As such, this could make a mean weapon in the wrong toddler’s hands!

We liked: It’s a really good idea. A great size for toddlers, our little one was occupied for a long time twisting the rings on and off. It’s a bright, colourful, attractive looking toy and each individual ring is interesting in itself. As a result, we can leave Toddler Boy alone to play with it, without too much interaction from us.

We weren’t so keen: I really didn’t like the laughing sound effect, it just didn’t seem to work in the context of a dinosaur. Furthermore, the roaring sound effect was a little bit like a flushing toilet. There is no on/off button for the sound effects, which could prove mildly aggravating in time.

In addition, the quality is slightly below that which I would normally expect from the Early Learning Centre – it just doesn’t seem quite as well made as their usual stuff. It’s also quite difficult to reconstruct so that the dinosaur head is looking forward, this is a bit frustrating for a child.

Overall: The ELC Twistasaurus would make a great gift for an under three. This dinosaur stacking toy kept Toddler Boy (2.5 years) amused for a fairly long time and even attracted baby Fifi (9 months). It seems a reasonable price for what it is, and I would definitely buy it for others.

would not recommend this toy. There is no on off switch for the sound and the sound is very annoying.
