“The Playmobil vet and car set is really just a car. It’s lovely and chunky and great to play with, but it’s lacking a few animals!”

playmobil vet and carInitial thoughts: You can’t really go far wrong with Playmobil. It’s nice and chunky, easy to build and gives hours of fun and entertainment. We open the box – we’re expecting a ‘vet set’ – and there is a noticeable deflation in excitement. It’s a vet’s car. A vet’s car? The only reason we know this is because we were told it was a vet’s car. There is nothing on the box or in the box to suggest what it is other than some woman in a green four wheel drive.

We liked: Like all the range, it’s easy to build and you can be playing with it within minutes. The parts are really easy to manipulate, so grown ups don’t end up having to do all the ‘building’ themselves. The roof comes off the car for easy access, and it’s robust enough for lots of play, plus it can be used with all the Playmobil range.

We weren’t keen: My daughter is a huge fan of animals so knowing she was getting something to do with a vet had her squeaking with glee. She opened it and said “What’s this got to do with animals?” There are no animals, no signs of animals, no hints that animals are treated. It looks like a car, a driver and a bunch of medical stuff in the boot which really didn’t impress this reviewer.

Overall: As a toy, we have very few complaints about the Playmobil Vet’s Car, but this would be better described as a 4×4 vehicle rather than a “vet’s” car. We were expecting animals, so we were disappointed!
