“Mum, look Buzz is flying … or should that be falling with style! The Sky Board is a fun, outdoor toy for young Toy Story fans.”

Buzz Lightyear Sky BoardInitial thoughts: The Buzz Lightyear Sky Board Flying toy is a foam surfboard which flies.  The board has a built in launcher, that works a little like a catapult, which you use to launch the board through the air. For Toy Story fans, it’s very appealing and looks cute. I liked that the design is soft and curved, so less chance of anyone losing an eye.

We Liked: The Buzz Lightyear sky board is a really simple toy, which the boys had loads of fun using. To launch Buzz, just stand in a clear space away from trees and power wires, and put one hand through the hole in the board. You then need to pull the slingshot back, and let go – hey presto, Buzz will fly for up to 50 feet!  Because it’s made of lightweight foam, it doesn’t break when it lands. Both boys found it simple to use once they got the hang of launching it and much prefer it to a Frisbee.

We Weren’t Keen: The boys managed to break the first Sky Board we were sent in less than a day – and the replacement is also showing signs of wear and tear already.  Although it’s an inexpensive toy at less than £10, I did think it should last a little longer than that! We also were unable to get much accuracy in our throws.

Overall: Even though the Buzz Lightyear Sky Board isn’t too sturdy, we have really enjoyed playing with this toy – I thought it was a simple idea that worked really well. I think a Sky Board would be a great beach or park toy for Buzz Lightyear fans, just don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t last the whole summer.
