I like that the Sail and Steer will grow with your child and will keep them entertained for long stretches of time- always a good thing for a busy mom!

Initial thoughts: The VTech Sail and Steer was nice and bright with lots of flashing lights, and music.  I was pleased that it was very easy to assemble without many fiddly bits.  And thrilled I didn’t need to buy batteries for it – score!

We liked: ‘A’ took to it right away and was soon busy kicking and playing with it, keeping him entertained and stimulated, which is what you want.  It was nice and sturdy and withstood the ‘bashing’ of a three month old.  I like that the mat is washable and it’s also nice and thick.  The ‘stand’ is height adjustable so it will grow with your child and having it as “reversible” was a plus as it adds extra stimulation –  you can have your baby reaching or kicking. Another aspect that it is well thought out is the auto off switch as how many times have you forgotten to turn one of these things off?!

We weren’t keen: The mat was a bit short and little ‘A’, at 3 months was almost too long for it when in the kicking position.  This isn’t an issue if you position the baby to reach rather than kick as his head will be on the top of the mat and not falling off the end, but still…

Overall: It really is a fantastic gym, lots of bright colours and flashing lights to keep little ones stimulated and entertained.  It grows with them so once ‘A’ is able to sit up he’ll still be able to play with it.  I like that the Sail and Steer will grow with your child and will keep them entertained for long stretches of time- always a good thing for a busy mom!
