The Mini MicroLite Scooter

Nice looking, but some real  flaws

But online here (Micro Scooters)

Price: £45

Initial Thoughts: Adam, at 4, was used to a fairly chunky 3 wheeler scooter but we needed something lighter and he wanted to try a 2 wheeler. The initial impressions were good, it looks great, is light enough for me to carry easily and has a well built feel to it. Adam got the balance of the 2 wheeler very quickly and loved it.

We Liked: It does feel nice, looks stylish and Adam adores it.

We weren’t keen: Unfortunately, only two days after we bought it, a screw in the mechanism holding the handle bars up worked loose and disappeared, meaning that the whole scooter could have collapsed at any moment. We’ve fixed it a number of times but it doesn’t really stay put. We contacted customer service, but they told us we can’t have fitted it properly. Given we bought it from an authorised stockist, who put the scooter together for us, we were a bit stuck! With expert DIY skills, we’ve fixed it, but the experience could have been better. We’ve also found that the handle bars and wheels quickly get out of synchronisation. Bearing in mind that we have only had the scooter for three months and it isn’t cheap, we would have hoped it would work rather better for rather longer. We bought at an official stockist and they put it together for us, so we assumed it would be fine.

Overall: I’d love to love this scooter. My son adores it. But we definitely needed a good DIY person who could make good the bits that don’t work.
