Monster Hands Temporary Tattoos

Cheap and cheerful fun, but better for the older kids

Buy online: Lakeland Ltd

Price: £3.95

Initial Thoughts: Looked pretty cool, nice small box and quick to work out how to apply.

We liked: Colourful, cheerful and easy to apply. There are 8 different patterns of tattoo to choose from the prettiest pink to serious crocodile scariness. Easy to apply, just take of the backing, stick on the hand and let water run over it for 30 seconds. The tattoo stayed in place well too, but came off easily enough when scrubbed. The kids thought they were pretty cool, but once fixed on it didn’t hold their attention for that long.

We weren’t keen: It says from 3 upwards but my nearly 4 year old didn’t have big enough hands and he is quite big for his age. The other younger kids also didn’t have the patience to keep their hands still whilst the water was running (attaching the tattoos) and then got upset when they didn’t come out perfectly.

Overall thoughts: The price is low enough that the toy completely falls into the ‘take a punt it could be brilliant but if it doesn’t work I’m not going to cry about it’ category. 2 of our testers (aged 3 ¾ and 4) didn’t have big enough hands for the tattoo and the younger ones also struggled to stay still for long enough to get a good fix on the tattoo. Once on, everyone loved them, but forgot about them soon enough.
