Moxie Girlz Stamp n Style Set

The hairbrush that came with the Moxie Girlz Stamp n Style Set was good enough for the doll’s hair but not substantial enough for our thick manes!

Initial thoughts: This was an exciting toy to open and my 8 year old daughter practically mowed me over in her haste to get at the doll!  The Stamp n Style set came with a Moxie Girl (we got Sophina), an appliance for inserting the different stamp designs and hair colour to stamp it onto the hair, four different ‘stamp on’ designs, two hair colours (we got pink and purple), a glittery hair mascara and a hairbrush.

We liked: The doll had really long hair which was black with pink streaks already- before we had done anything! So we got to selecting what designs to apply to her hair.  The hair stamps can be used by humans too as it just washes out, so we could stamp our own hair and have a bit of a makeover whilst we were at it!  I liked how the hair colours came in a tube with a separate foam attachment so when you took the lid off, you could attach the foam applicator and this made it easier to apply the colour to the hair evenly.

We weren’t keen: The hairbrush was good enough for the doll’s hair but not substantial enough for our thick manes!  Plus after about an hour of play this toy had lost its interest and my daughter hasn’t touched it since.  It looks fantastic in the box but when it was out in the open it lost its appeal for my daughter as she found it a bit fiddly to do on her own.

Overall: This would make a very attractive looking gift for someone, but given the amount of time my daughter has spent with it, I feel that the £25 price tag is a little high.  It would be best suited to a ‘girly girl’ who likes trying out make up, my daughter does enjoy a little bit of make up play from time to time but she is more in her element with ‘drawing’ and art / craft related play.
