Initial Thoughts
: Little S is lactose intolerant so chocolate advent calendars are out of the question at Christmas. We thought the Playmobil Calendar would be ideal as it is something different for him and has lasting value. When we initially opened the box, we were disappointed that there was extra strong tape at the edges so some of the paper came
off not only the outer box, but the calendar box too. It didn’t seem to bother Little S though, he was more keen to see what was inside! Along with the calendar, there is a cardboard scene for all the Playmobil goodies. The calendar can also hang on the wall.

We liked: The Playmobil Dragon’s Land Advent Calendar is fantastic! Every day holds a new toy that builds up a Dragon’s Land scene. Little S hasn’t really had Playmobil before, and he absolutely loved it. He sets it all up, puts it back in the box, tries out different arrangements; for him the possibilities are endless. All the pieces are well made and detailed. Some days you get more than one piece which was really exciting for Little S. He really liked the little skeleton and the working crossbow.

We weren’t keen: The instructions weren’t particularly great, and you had to rely on the box to see how to set it all out on the cardboard scene. There were a couple of bits on one of the figures that kept falling off every time you tried to put the axe and sword in.

Overall: Despite a few flaws, we absolutely loved the Playmobil advent calendar. It’s a brilliant alternative to chocolate and will last way after Christmas. Like I said, I would prefer not such sticky tape on the edge of the box but then I did think we’d reuse it again for next year.   Little S plays with it so much that I don’t think he’d give us that option anyway! We don’t mind though and would rather pay more for something that will last a long time.
