Want an alternative to an advent calendar? The Santa advent stocking from Lakeland Limited is really well made and would make a thoughtful gift for someone who likes quality and enjoys Christmas!

advent stockingInitial thoughts: The Christmas countdown is on and when I got out the Santa Advent Calendar it started to get me in the Christmas mood!  This combination giant stocking and advent calendar is fairly large – big enough to put some nice stocking filler gifts in, and it has a nice traditional festive design.

We liked: I liked the Santa embroidery on the foot of the stocking – it was really good quality workmanship, and the little felt Christmas Tree hanging from the top of the stocking made a nice plaything for my cat when I hung the stocking!  I won’t be able to allow the cat too near it as I think he’ll try to rip the tree to shreds with his claws in his excitement!  The stocking came in festive green and red with some woolly white bits and a useful large hanging loop at the top to hang the stocking with.

We weren’t keen: Whilst I think it’s an interesting and unusual touch to combine an advent calendar with a stocking, it leaves me with the problem of what to put into the 24 little pockets that mark each day.  Maybe some kind of chocolate? But then I’d need to be careful about exactly where I hung the stocking so nothing melted!  It’s a nice touch but it presents me with another issue to think about whereas a ready made paper advent calendar complete with the chocolates already inside, is easy – just put on the sideboard and go! I know, I’m a bad Mummy

Overall: The Santa Stocking is really well made and would make a thoughtful gift for someone who likes quality and enjoys Christmas! Maybe a nice present to take to ‘Grandmas’ house, for when your kids go round there during December!
