The Tomy Forget-Me-Not Photo Albulm is a well made toy with plenty for a baby to look at feel, feel and listen to.

Initial Thoughts: The Tomy Forget-Me-Not Photo Albulm is a well made toy with plenty for a baby to look at feel, feel and listen to.

We liked: This is a well made toy, with lots of different textures for a baby to feel. There is a mirror on the front, crinkly side tabs down the sides and smooth Perspex covering the photos.  The centre is a little caterpillar which feels just right for a bit of chewing. The idea is that you use the book as a photo album, using pictures of family and then get the family to record a little message to accompany their photo – particularly good if the family isn’t local and the baby doesn’t see them as often as you’d like. The messages were easy to record (although I did need to look the instructions up on the internet).
We weren’t keen: In general I’m not a fan of toys that make noise and am particularly scarred from a car journey when my baby turned the page of a book which repeated the first line of the Cat and the Fiddle every 5 seconds for over an hour, so this isn’t really an aspect of the toy I’m likely to make use of.   That said, other people seem to love it and say that their babies really respond to the voice aspect of the toy. The babies giggle sound is going to grate, but I do have a low tolerance for this type of sound. It is quite heavy for a baby to handle; the baby would have to be able to sit independently and even then might struggle to keep it to hand until they grow stronger. I’d rather not have to use a screwdriver to get to where the batteries are.
Overall: Although it isn’t my sort of thing, the toy is well made and babies would get much enjoyment of the different sensory aspects of the toy.
